John O. Morisano
Principal

John O. Morisano has spent the last almost 25 years helping to build and run a wide variety of companies based in media, technology and the arts. From his first job forward, Johno has always found himself at the heart of a company’s operations.

A CPA and graduate of Pace University in New York City, Johno started his career by taking a job at an indie film shop as an accounting clerk in order to work his way through college. Twelve bad movies later and a management team that left for greener pastures found him as a college senior, along the side of his 25-year-old boss, packaging up and selling a pair of publicly-traded entertainment companies. His destiny, as a result, was set. After two years with the accounting firm PwC to secure his CPA, he moved to Paris to take over the European operations of Activision as part of a global turnaround strategy. This successful turnaround became the foundation for two decades of growth that saw Activision turn into the leading video game publisher in the world.

Johno joined the Sunshine Companies in 1996, an incubator and start-up investor, and through its interests, which included SonicNet.com, Alltrue.com, Sunshine TV, Sunshine Direct, Sunshine Theater, Pickerel Pie Entertainment, Cumulus Studios and SaysMe.TV, Johno has been responsible for all aspects of corporate operations, fundraising, film, television and Internet content and technology development. His most recent investment, PRG Media, is parent to one of the UK’s most popular social commerce sites aimed at women – www.inthepowderroom.com – which has a fully proprietary and groundbreaking social commerce engine.

Johno is a Vice President on the Boards of The National Arts Club and UN Women (the United Nations global organization for the advancement of women’s rights in developing nations). He splits his time between New York City and Savannah with his wife and their very large dog – Flounder. When not working, you will find him biking and running in order to offset his favorite indulgences – eating good food and drinking tasty wine.
